Role Overview

The Director of Product will own the entire product function at Spellbook, reporting directly to the CEO. This position involves setting a unified product vision across the product portfolio, leading and mentoring a small team of product managers, and driving execution from roadmap creation to launch. The role operates as a key voice in company strategy, serving as the connective tissue between engineering, design, go-to-market teams, and customers.

Key Responsibilities

Define and champion a unified product vision across the entire portfolio, including the core Microsoft Word experience, Associate features, and playbooks.
Build, manage, and mentor a small team of product managers to establish strong team culture, processes, and product craft.
Own the product roadmap end-to-end, balancing near-term customer value against long-term platform bets through prioritization and trade-offs.
Partner closely with engineering and design to drive execution, clear specs, tight feedback loops, and successful product launches.
Lead go-to-market coordination for releases by working with marketing, sales, and customer success to drive user adoption.
Act as the voice of the customer by synthesizing insights from user research, support tickets, sales calls, and data into product decisions.
Partner with the CEO and leadership team on company strategy, product direction, and investor materials.
Establish metrics and feedback loops to measure product health, feature adoption, and user outcomes across the portfolio.

Requirements

Proven experience leading product at a high-growth B2B SaaS company, ideally within vertical AI, legaltech, or professional services.
Experience managing product managers, hiring for craft, and providing feedback that fosters professional growth without micromanagement.
Systems-thinking capabilities with the ability to handle both big-picture portfolio strategy and granular user flows simultaneously.
Demonstrated history of shipping impactful products end-to-end.
Deep curiosity about artificial intelligence, model capabilities, agent functions, and separating hype from real leverage.
Exceptional communication skills to write crisp product requirement documents, present roadmaps, and discuss technical scope with engineers.
Ability to operate with urgency and calm in a dynamic environment.

Nice to Have

Background in law, legal operations, or enterprise compliance workflows.
Experience building products embedded within third-party surfaces such as Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, or Salesforce.
Familiarity with large language model product patterns, including prompt design, retrieval-augmented generation, agentic workflows, and evaluation frameworks.
Experience navigating rapid scaling at a company that went through a Series B funding round or strategic acquisitions.
