Role Overview

This position serves as the operational heart of the global finance function, guiding a growing portfolio of acquired software companies. Banyan Software acquires vertical software businesses and holds them permanently rather than flipping them, which shapes a long-term approach to systems, processes, and people. The incoming leader will inherit a healthy finance function in motion and set the operational maturity trajectory across headquarters and operating companies. Reporting directly to the CFO, this leader partners closely with executive peers and operates as a strategic thought partner who translates complex financial data into actionable narratives.

Key Responsibilities

Direct the global monthly close and consolidation cycle across headquarters and operating companies under US GAAP, with a working target to reduce the close timeline from ten days to five.
Manage the external audit relationship, coordinate year-end audit asks, and ensure the function meets strict public-company-grade reporting standards.
Oversee group-level technical accounting, applying deep US GAAP fluency particularly around software industry topics and partnering with the CFO on judgment calls.
Standardize operating company accounting practices by aligning charts of accounts, reporting packages, and close timelines during ERP migrations.
Lead a team of approximately ten professionals, including the Director of Controllership, Director of Global Payroll, and Head of ERP & Reporting.
Partner with HQ finance peers including FP&A on reporting infrastructure, Tax on compliance, and Treasury on cash and foreign exchange support.
Drive systems automation and AI enhancements utilizing NetSuite as the group enterprise resource planning platform alongside adjacent tooling.
Integrate newly acquired operating companies into the regular close and reporting cadence to make onboarding repeatable.

Requirements

Possess 12+ years of progressive controllership experience, including approximately 5+ years in a senior controllership role.
Background featuring public-company-grade reporting rigor, such as experience in a public company, PE-backed platform, or leveraged credit environment.
Proven expertise in multi-entity, multi-currency, and multi-jurisdiction consolidation spanning over 100 legal entities.
Foundation from a Big 4 or comparable reputable accounting firm.
Direct professional experience within the software industry or supporting software-focused public-accounting practices.
Hands-on experience working directly with NetSuite ERP.
Strong command of technical US GAAP accounting paired with commercial sense and operational practicality.

Nice to Have

Background in private equity-backed, holdco, or serial-acquirer environments.
Track record of leading or supporting finance systems improvements, including NetSuite migrations, close-management tool implementations, or AI-enabled tooling.
Experience handling a high volume of acquisition integrations.
Previous success in compressing financial close cycles.
Experience managing or partnering with global and offshore teams.

Salary and Benefits
