Gainsight is seeking a full-time Staff Software Engineer to join the R&D department in Bengaluru, India, on a hybrid and remote-friendly basis. This position suits an experienced developer with a background in Python, React, and artificial intelligence who wants to build autonomous customer success platforms.

Role Overview

Reporting to the Director of AI Engineering, the Staff Software Engineer plays a crucial role in building Atlas, the AI Agents platform for Customer Success at Gainsight. The person in this position takes full ownership of agentic product features end-to-end, handling design, building, shipping, and iterative improvements to boost customer adoption. Operating within a fast-moving, high-ownership environment, the engineer collaborates closely with product, design, and forward-deployed engineering teams while maintaining continuous deployment practices.

Key Responsibilities

Approach technical challenges with an agentic mindset, prioritizing autonomous workflows, reasoning, and adaptive systems over deterministic programming patterns.
Take end-to-end ownership of features from initial conception through deployment and ongoing iteration with minimal supervision.
Proactively identify and communicate project risks, trade-offs, and solution approaches to relevant stakeholders.
Design reliable, scalable architectures capable of supporting rapid platform growth.
Partner with product management, design, and engineering peers to shape project planning and execution.
Introduce improved tools, patterns, and methodologies to elevate team building efficiency and maintain lean, effective documentation.

Requirements

Possess 4 to 7 years of total professional software engineering experience.
Bring at least 3 years of experience building scalable applications using Python and modern JavaScript frameworks, specifically ReactJs.
Demonstrate 1 to 2 years of hands-on experience building AI agents or working with Large Language Models beyond basic prompt engineering.
Hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or have equivalent professional experience.
Show proven full-stack capabilities with a history of owning features through deployment and maintenance.
Understand software development lifecycle best practices, system design, code reviews, version control, testing, and operational standards.
