Staff Product Manager, Design for Manufacturability (DFM)
About this role
The team at Xometry builds a digital marketplace connecting buyers at Fortune 1000 companies with global manufacturing capacity. Every custom part quoted on the platform must be checked for manufacturability, known as Design for Manufacturing. The Staff Product Manager for DFM owns the multi-year strategy and roadmap to define, automate, and scale manufacturability reviews using artificial intelligence across all geographies. This position sits at the intersection of manufacturing domain expertise, workflow design, and applied machine learning as a critical component of the corporate strategy.
Day-to-day work centers on leading the Intelligent DFM Workbench, which serves as the single structured record of what each order requires to be built correctly. The person in this seat will partner closely with data science and engineering to improve 3D geometry analysis and visual language models, while also driving measurable outcomes such as reduced handle time and sign-off latency. Ideal candidates bring extensive product management experience in technical or B2B marketplace environments, paired with a practical understanding of geometry-based feasibility rules and human-in-the-loop workflows.
What you will do
- Define and drive a multi-year roadmap for DFM across Xometry to create a global workbench that accelerates production quality and speed.
- Manage the Intelligent DFM Workbench as the single source of truth for order requirements read by internal staff, buyers, and partners.
- Collaborate with data science and engineering to enhance manufacturability models, including 3D geometry analysis and Visual or 3D Language Models.
- Track key metrics such as DFM handle time, sign-off latency, RMA rate, and regional rework to prioritize product backlog items.
- Coordinate cross-functionally with engineering, data science, UX, sourcing, pricing, order systems, quality, and DFM engineers.
- Present strategy, trade-offs, and return on investment to executive leadership stakeholders.
What you need
- Bring 8 or more years of product management experience, specifically leading AI, machine learning-powered, or technical products in B2B, marketplace, or manufacturing settings.
- Demonstrate experience owning a system of record or complex data contract alongside human-in-the-loop workflows.
- Possess background in designing policy-driven workflows like approval routing, tiered sign-offs, and escalation logic.
- Show comfort operating across regions to maintain a single global design standard despite regional customization pressures.
- Exhibit exceptional written and verbal communication skills to distill technical complexity for engineers and executives.
- Apply a rigorous, data-driven approach to prioritization, experimentation, and impact measurement.
- Maintain comfort getting deep into geometry-based feasibility rules.
Nice to have
- Familiarity with manufacturing processes and DFM principles such as CNC machining, sheet metal, additive manufacturing, and injection molding
- Track record partnering closely with data science and ML engineering teams to ship computer vision, 3D or geometric analysis, or applied LLM and VLM models into production
- Advanced degree such as an MBA or Master of Science
Benefits
