Role Overview

Absorb Software is hiring a Staff Marketing Technology Engineer for a remote position in Canada within the marketing department. The professional in this role will split focus between stewarding a mature data platform and designing cutting-edge AI applications on Google Cloud. Operating as a senior individual contributor, the engineer will provide technical leadership and architectural direction for the marketing technology stack without direct reports.

Key Responsibilities

Own and evolve the marketing data platform, utilizing BigQuery and dbt-based transformations to build reliable ETL and ELT pipelines.
Design, build, and deploy applications and AI agents on Google Cloud to automate marketing and product workflows.
Develop AI-powered tools that allow marketing and product teams to utilize self-service automation.
Enforce strict engineering best practices across AI-assisted codebases, including Git version control, code reviews, automated testing, and CI/CD pipelines.
Manage data security and governance across the platform, focusing on least-privilege access, secret management, PII handling, and guardrails against prompt injection.
Collaborate closely with marketing, finance, sales, data analysts, and BI specialists to ensure data integrity and resolve discrepancies.
Act as a subject matter expert in data architecture, AI application engineering, and marketing technology.

Requirements

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related technical field.
Minimum of 5 years of data engineering experience, alongside demonstrated strength in software or AI application development.
Solid software engineering fundamentals encompassing Git workflows, code reviews, automated testing, and CI/CD.
Hands-on experience deploying applications on Google Cloud using Cloud Run, Cloud Functions, or GKE, alongside Docker and Terraform.
Experience building AI and LLM applications using tools like Vertex AI, LangChain, or LangGraph, alongside FastAPI design.
Expertise in SQL and Python with proven experience in batch and streaming ETL/ELT processes.
Mandatory experience working with BigQuery, dbt, and data-warehouse modeling concepts.
Working knowledge of cloud security, IAM, secret management, and handling sensitive PII data.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Nice to Have

Familiarity with AWS or Azure cloud environments.
Experience with Fivetran and marketing software categories like content management, CRM, email marketing, and tracking tools.
Familiarity with data visualization platforms such as Power BI or Tableau.
