In San Francisco, CA, Fluidstack is hiring a full-time Software Engineer focused on Applied AI. This position suits a developer who thrives in high-urgency environments and wants to build civilization-scale infrastructure.

Role Overview

The Software Engineer, Applied AI will design core systems, integrate AI agents into operational workflows, and process complex vendor data. The professional in this role will handle complex data modeling, construct pipelines for unstructured vendor documents, and implement automated site designs and scheduling mechanisms.

Key Responsibilities

Build core primitives end-to-end, including entity ownership, audit trails, authorization, and orchestration.
Own the domain model by turning power, datacenter, and chip operations into durable composable entities.
Define external system interfaces to ingest formats such as KMZ, BIM, Revit, and vendor documents.
Develop AI agents with proper tools, guardrails, and audit trails to operate systems safely.

Requirements

Ability to navigate ambiguity and build operational maps in unclear situations.
High learning velocity to master unfamiliar domains quickly.
Strong taste in abstraction and rigorous domain modeling experience.
Experience extracting structured information from messy, unstructured data in machine learning, data engineering, or research.
Fluency with AI tooling including LLM APIs, MCP servers, agentic frameworks, Claude Code, and Cursor.
History of shipping production code that others rely on.

Nice to Have

Machine learning engineering experience focusing on extraction and synthesis from unstructured data.
Familiarity with workflow and orchestration engines like Temporal, Cadence, or Airflow.
Knowledge of geospatial formats like KMZ or GIS, or BIM tools such as Revit and IFC.
Background in authorization and policy engines including OPA, Zanzibar-style, RBAC, and ABAC.
Experience with audit or event-sourcing systems, Go, TypeScript, and Postgres.
