Role Overview

PointClickCare is seeking a Senior Software Engineer - Java for a full-time hybrid position based in Mississauga, Ontario. This opportunity suits an experienced engineer who wants to build scalable platform services and help transform healthcare through advanced technology.

Key Responsibilities

Build robust platform services that support clinical operations across numerous healthcare facilities.
Partner closely with product and clinical teams to understand and solve real workflow challenges.
Drive key architectural decisions for business platform services.
Own the reliability and performance of critical healthcare solutions.
Mentor team members on modern engineering practices and participate in constructive code reviews.
Handle on-call responsibilities and incident response as part of maintaining system reliability.

Requirements

Strong track record of building and shipping production software using modern languages such as Java or Python.
Deep understanding of cloud-native architecture and distributed systems design patterns.
Expertise in the design, optimization, and scaling of relational SQL database systems.
Experience designing and implementing RESTful APIs and microservices.
Proficiency in test-driven development, automated testing, and code quality maintenance.
Hands-on experience with modern frontend frameworks, primarily React or Vue.js.
Working knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure-as-code practices.
Experience with production observability, monitoring, and performance optimization tools.
Comfort using AI-augmented development tools like GitHub Copilot or Claude Code throughout the development lifecycle.
Ability to balance new feature delivery with system reliability and technical excellence.

Nice to Have

Experience building and scaling SaaS platforms.
A proven track record of mentoring engineers or leading technical initiatives.
Background working with Spring Boot and the broader Java ecosystem.
Experience utilizing Azure cloud services and Kubernetes (AKS).
Previous experience working in healthcare technology or other highly regulated industries.
Understanding of HIPAA compliance and handling sensitive data.
