Role Overview

As a Senior Engineer at Nearform, the primary focus involves designing and building robust applications using Golang. Working within the engineering function, team members partner directly with clients to translate intricate business requirements into secure, high-performance digital solutions. Because projects vary, daily activities include supporting component design, defining structured deployment practices, and optimising application performance.

Key Responsibilities

Design and build software applications primarily using Golang.
Support component design, development, and maintenance while upholding high technical quality standards.
Assist in defining structured practices for source code management, builds, and deployments.
Design and implement effective data storage solutions.
Optimise applications for maximum speed, performance, and scalability.
Gather feedback from users and clients to build targeted solutions.
Analyse client requirements and support technical leaders in project execution and timely delivery.
Collaborate closely with client teams and distributed engineering colleagues.

Requirements

Significant commercial experience at a senior level, typically requiring at least 6 years of professional background.
Practical delivery experience within an agile development environment.
Deep knowledge and practical experience developing real-world solutions using Golang.
Deep understanding of version control tools such as Git.
Comprehensive testing experience with familiarity across unit, integration, and end-to-end testing tools.
Real-world experience working with databases and cloud computing environments.
Background in automation, continuous integration (CI), and continuous deployment (CD).
Experience building software collaboratively via pull requests and code reviews.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills with professional proficiency in English.

Nice to Have

Experience working with Python and AI/ML libraries.
Familiarity with Next.js.
Desired, though not essential, background in financial services.
Knowledge of data science techniques including data preprocessing, feature engineering, and model evaluation.
