Role Overview

The Senior Software Engineer (Backend) - AI/ML position at ClickHouse involves working from Australia to design, build, and operate AI and machine learning products end-to-end. The role focuses on developing the Agentic Data Stack, AI Functions, chDB, the in-Console copilot, and associated partnerships.

Key Responsibilities

Design and implement AI-powered features across the full stack, spanning backend inference services and frontend interfaces within the ClickHouse Cloud platform.
Create robust and scalable APIs connecting database capabilities with AI/ML inference systems and AI services.
Maintain integrations with the broader AI/ML ecosystem and standards to ensure compatibility with popular frameworks and tools.
Integrate models into production systems with monitoring, versioning, observability, and evaluation.
Participate in daytime oncall rotations with team members.
Design and implement developer tools, SDKs, and documentation for user leverage of AI/ML capabilities.

Requirements

Five plus years of software engineering experience in production environments.
Exposure to working directly with AI/ML technologies.
Backend development experience using TypeScript or Python, focusing on API design and service architecture.
Demonstrated ownership to drive features from concept to production with minimal supervision.
Ability to collaborate effectively and communicate technical concepts to diverse stakeholders.

Nice to Have

Experience integrating and deploying AI/ML models in production systems, including inference APIs and vector databases.
