ClickHouse seeks a Machine Learning Engineer to join the team in New York for building and operating AI and machine learning products. This opportunity suits experienced software professionals who want to own end-to-end ML pipelines and shape cloud analytics platforms.

Role Overview

The AI/ML Engineering group at ClickHouse builds core products such as the Agentic Data Stack, AI Functions, chDB, and the in-Console copilot. Professionals joining this team design, build, and operate production systems that serve AI workloads and data scientists.

Key Responsibilities

Design and implement AI-powered features across the full stack, covering backend inference services and frontend interfaces in ClickHouse Cloud.
Build robust, scalable APIs connecting database capabilities with modern AI/ML inference systems and external services.
Maintain integrations with the broader AI/ML ecosystem and standards to ensure seamless framework compatibility.
Integrate models into production systems with proper monitoring, versioning, observability, and evaluation.
Participate in the daytime oncall rotation with team members.
Own the machine learning pipeline from data ingestion and training to evaluation, fine-tuning custom models when standard options are insufficient.

Requirements

Minimum of five years of software engineering experience in production environments.
Practical exposure to working directly with artificial intelligence and machine learning technologies.
Experience deploying and integrating AI/ML models into production systems, including inference APIs and vector databases.
Ability to drive features from concept to production with minimal supervision.
Applied machine learning experience using Python tools like Jupyter, PyTorch, and common libraries, alongside compute clusters such as Ray or Slurm.

Nice to Have

Familiarity with cloud providers like AWS, Azure, or GCP and their AI/ML deployment services.
Understanding of database systems and data processing pipelines, with ClickHouse knowledge acting as a distinct plus.
Experience working with embedding-based systems, including retrieval, ranking, and recommender mechanisms.
