Role Overview

The AI/ML Engineering group at ClickHouse builds end-to-end artificial intelligence products, including the Agentic Data Stack, AI Functions, chDB, and the in-Console copilot. The engineering team designs, builds, and operates systems that support agents and data scientists on the platform.

Key Responsibilities

Design and implement artificial intelligence features across the full stack, spanning backend inference services and frontend interfaces within the ClickHouse Cloud platform.
Build scalable application programming interfaces connecting database capabilities with machine learning inference systems and external services.
Maintain integrations with the broader AI and machine learning ecosystem to ensure smooth compatibility with popular frameworks and tools.
Integrate models into production systems incorporating monitoring, versioning, observability, and evaluation.
Participate in a daytime oncall rotation with team members.
Create developer tools, software development kits, and documentation for users leveraging artificial intelligence capabilities.

Requirements

Minimum of five years of software engineering experience in production environments.
Exposure to working directly with artificial intelligence and machine learning technologies.
Backend development experience using TypeScript or Python, emphasizing application programming interface design and service architecture.
Ability to drive features from concept to production with minimal supervision and strong ownership.
Collaborative mindset with the ability to communicate technical concepts to diverse stakeholders.

Nice to Have

Experience integrating and deploying machine learning models in production systems, including inference application programming interfaces and vector databases.
Familiarity with cloud technologies such as Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform, particularly artificial intelligence deployment services.
Understanding of database systems and data processing pipelines, with ClickHouse experience considered a significant plus.
