Role Overview

The AI SRE team focuses on ensuring that artificial intelligence and machine learning platforms are reliable, secure, and operationally excellent. This engineer owns the infrastructure operability for AI data processing, machine learning workspaces, labeling systems, and model serving. By establishing clear service level objectives, observability standards, and automation, the role protects sensitive patient data while allowing research and product teams to innovate quickly.

Key Responsibilities

Own service level objectives, error budgets, and reliability targets for cloud-based platforms while ensuring complete telemetry, metrics, logs, and alert quality.
Design, build, and maintain infrastructure-as-code, change control workflows, and operational automation to minimize toil and guarantee repeatability.
Implement and maintain security controls such as network segmentation, encryption, and secrets management in partnership with security teams.
Lead incident response efforts, conduct blameless postmortems, and execute disaster recovery testing and game days.
Mentor fellow engineers, lead design reviews, and collaborate across engineering groups to enhance cost efficiency, capacity planning, and resiliency standards.

Requirements

Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in Site Reliability Engineering, platform engineering, or infrastructure roles supporting mission-critical production cloud environments.
Strong expertise in observability frameworks, SLI/SLO tracking, incident response, on-call operations, and blameless postmortems.
Demonstrated proficiency with Infrastructure as Code using Terraform, GitOps practices, and continuous integration and deployment pipelines.
Working knowledge of cloud platform administration for compute, networking, storage, and managed AI or data platform services like Azure ML, Databricks, or Kubernetes-hosted environments.
Experience applying platform security principles, including network security, data encryption, and key management.
Strong programming abilities focused on operational tooling, infrastructure management, and automation.
Excellent communication and documentation skills for writing runbooks, leading postmortems, and defining operational standards.

Nice to Have

Practical experience with multi-region disaster recovery patterns, capacity planning, and FinOps cost optimization.
Working knowledge of container orchestration platforms like Kubernetes, progressive delivery strategies, and data lineage tooling.
Prior professional experience working within healthcare, life sciences, or other heavily regulated industries with strict data privacy mandates.
