Role Overview

In this position, the engineer acts as the guardian of infrastructure that supports millions of monthly medical consultations. The role requires balancing strategic security leadership with hands-on technical execution to protect sensitive healthcare data, maintain compliance standards, and support rapid company growth.

Key Responsibilities

Oversee SOC 2 Type II compliance procedures and coordinate audits with external evaluators.
Apply and supervise HIPAA technical safeguards throughout the entire infrastructure and software applications.
Organize and execute routine penetration testing, security evaluations, and vulnerability assessments.
Evaluate vendor security measures and complete comprehensive security questionnaires for enterprise partners.
Establish and mandate security guidelines across operational, business, and engineering divisions.
Manage security incidents promptly, followed by detailed post-incident reviews.
Develop monitoring systems and security automation to expand protection measures.
Partner with software developers to integrate security protocols throughout the development cycle.

Requirements

Minimum of seven years of professional information security experience within live production environments.
Prior background working in heavily regulated sectors like healthcare or financial technology.
Demonstrated hands-on technical expertise capable of reading code, adjusting systems, and investigating threats.
Extensive working knowledge surrounding compliance frameworks such as HIPAA and SOC 2.
Solid understanding of cloud security principles, AWS IAM, encryption, and related controls.
Effective communication skills tailored for both technical peers and business stakeholders.

Nice to Have

Possession of professional security credentials including CISSP, CISM, or CISA.
Background dealing with health information exchanges, interoperability standards, or TEFCA.
Past security experience gained within fast-paced startup environments.
Knowledge regarding AI and machine learning security challenges.
Familiarity with mobile application security across iOS and Android platforms.
Understanding of medical device security rules or FDA digital health guidelines.
Experience focusing on secure software development life cycles and DevSecOps.
