Deployed Engineer, Professional Services (NYC)
About this role
LangChain builds foundational tooling for agent engineering, creating platforms and open-source frameworks that help developers move from prototypes to production-ready AI agents. The Professional Services team works directly with enterprise customers to build reliable production agents, translating complex workflows into concrete software specifications and guiding engineering teams through the resulting solutions.
In this role, the engineer spends time advising on agent architecture, co-building evaluation pipelines, and embedding inside customer teams to ship agent systems directly. Candidates who do well here have built real AI systems for production, can defend technical tradeoffs, and possess strong client-facing communication skills to engage with technical stakeholders like engineers, architects, and CTOs.
What you will do
- Advise enterprise clients on agent architecture design, evaluation strategy review, and best-practice production guidance.
- Co-build applications with customer engineering teams across the full Agent Development Lifecycle in outcome-scoped engagements.
- Serve as a deployed engineer inside customer organizations for extended periods to ship agent systems directly.
- Handle end-to-end agent engineering including orchestration patterns, evaluations, custom conversational UIs, and production deployment.
- Apply methods in post-training, supervised fine-tuning, harness engineering, trace mining, and model selection.
- Travel up to 20 percent of the time for client engagements.
What you need
- Have at least four years of software engineering experience with deep expertise in Python.
- Bring a minimum of two years of hands-on experience building and shipping production agent systems.
- Demonstrate strong client-facing communication skills to articulate architectural decisions to technical stakeholders.
- Possess strong experience with LangChain, LangGraph, Deep Agents, or comparable frameworks involving multi-agent patterns and state management.
- Show deep familiarity in designing and implementing evaluation methodologies for non-deterministic AI systems.
- Maintain comfort operating across the full spectrum from advisory consulting to embedded delivery.
Nice to have
- Exposure to dataset curation and post-training techniques on open-weight models using tools like Axolotl, Unsloth, Hugging Face transformers, or TRL
- Experience with trace mining to drive continuous improvement loops

What is the compensation range for this role?
The base salary range is $150,000 to $215,000. Compensation also includes meaningful equity, variable compensation where relevant, and benefits.
What travel is required for this position?
Team members in this role should be willing to travel up to 20 percent of the time. Travel supports direct engagement with enterprise customers.
