Enterprise customers struggle to bridge the gap between experimental AI prototypes and reliable production-ready systems at scale. Addressing this operational bottleneck, the Professional Services team at LangChain needs a Deployed Engineer to translate ambiguous corporate workflows into concrete software specifications and implement them directly. Operating at the intersection of client advisory and hands-on engineering, this practitioner spends time designing agent architectures, co-building evaluation pipelines, or embedding within customer organizations for outcome-scoped engagements.
Candidates joining this team will shape how agent technology functions in real-world enterprise environments by working alongside major organizations utilizing LangSmith and related open-source frameworks. Success in this position requires a solid background in building practical AI applications, the capability to defend technical tradeoffs, and strong communication skills to guide technical stakeholders through complex deployment phases. Anyone comfortable transitioning fluidly between high-level architectural advising and direct code delivery will thrive in this environment.
What you will do
- Advise enterprise clients on optimal agent architecture design, evaluation strategy review, and production best practices.
- Collaborate directly with customer engineering teams to co-build solutions across the full Agent Development Lifecycle.
- Embed inside client organizations for extended engagements to function as an extension of their team and ship agent systems.
- Implement end-to-end agent engineering including orchestration patterns, evaluations, custom conversational UIs, and production deployments.
- Apply methods in applied AI such as post-training, supervised fine-tuning, harness engineering, trace mining, and model selection.
What you need
- Bring four or more years of software engineering experience featuring deep expertise in Python.
- Demonstrate two or more years of hands-on experience building and shipping production agent systems.
- Possess client-facing communication skills to clearly articulate architectural decisions to technical stakeholders like engineers, architects, and CTOs.
- Show familiarity with LangChain, LangGraph, Deep Agents, or comparable frameworks, including multi-agent patterns and state management.
- Display deep familiarity designing and implementing evaluation methodologies for non-deterministic AI systems.
- Maintain comfort operating across the full spectrum ranging from advisory consulting to embedded delivery.
- Remain willing to travel up to twenty percent of the time.
Nice to have
- Exposure to dataset curation and post-training techniques on open-weight models using tools like Axolotl, Unsloth, Hugging Face transformers, or TRL
- Experience with trace mining to drive continuous improvement loops
