About this role
Engineers who thrive on ownership, ambiguity, and solving complex problems in mission-critical environments will find a strong fit in this role. LangChain builds foundational technology for agent engineering, creating tools like LangChain, LangGraph, LangSmith, and Agent Builder to help developers transition prototypes into production-ready AI agents.
Working within the Deployed Engineering - Federal team, you will partner directly with U.S. Government customers, including the Department of Defense, Civilian Agencies, and the Intelligence Community. You will focus on achieving technical wins, architecting secure agent systems, and guiding agencies in operating AI agents reliably at scale. The role bridges engineering, product, security, and go-to-market functions to shape how artificial intelligence is adopted across classified and unclassified environments.
What you will do
- Co-architect and co-build production AI agents with federal engineering teams and system integrators.
- Own the technical win in federal pre-sales engagements by designing secure proof-of-concept projects and supporting technical evaluations.
- Design system architectures that meet strict federal security and compliance requirements like FedRAMP and NIST.
- Help agencies deploy and operate agent-based applications such as mission support copilots and research automation systems.
- Advise customers post-award on architecture, scalability, observability, and evaluation decisions.
- Deliver technical demonstrations, workshops, and enablement sessions tailored to government developers.
- Surface field feedback from federal use cases to contribute reusable patterns and secure deployment guides.
What you need
- Must have an active or prior U.S. security clearance such as Secret or TS/SCI.
- Bring three or more years of experience in a relevant technical role like software engineering or solutions engineering.
- Demonstrate experience working with the DoD, Civilian Agencies, Intelligence Community, or federal system integrators.
- Possess strong Python and JavaScript fundamentals alongside deep systems thinking.
- Show experience designing agent-based or LLM-powered systems that include multi-step workflows and orchestration.
- Display familiarity with secure cloud environments including AWS GovCloud and Azure Government.
- Maintain comfort operating within regulated environments that carry compliance and documentation requirements.
Nice to have
- Experience deploying AI systems in classified or air-gapped environments
- Familiarity with FedRAMP authorization processes or DoD Impact Levels (IL2–IL6)
- Experience with LLM evaluation, observability, red-teaming, or guardrails in high-assurance settings
- Hands-on experience with AWS, Azure, containers, Kubernetes, and secure networking architectures
- Production experience with LangChain, LangGraph, or similar agent frameworks
Benefits
- Medical, dental, and vision coverage
- Flexible vacation
