Role Overview

The Chief Product and Technology Officer leads product direction and technology execution for ZAP Solutions within the United States, unifying these functions under a single accountable leader. This role suits an experienced SaaS leader ready to modernize a legacy platform and drive an AI-first operating rhythm while working closely with the CEO.

Key Responsibilities

Own product direction by synthesizing customer signals, usage data, and market insights to shift the roadmap from customer-reactive to market-facing.
Execute product discovery personally through focus groups, customer advisory councils, spec creation, and validation during year one.
Define and execute the technical vision for the flagship AMP platform, CRM, SAMS, and Schedule Today modules to ensure scalability and security.
Consolidate multi-codebase legacy footprints into a modern, maintainable SaaS architecture.
Design a unified data architecture serving analytics, BI, and AI to create competitive advantages.
Lead the adoption of AI-assisted development practices across an engineering team of 10 to 15 members.
Own security, compliance, and data privacy practices including FERPA, PCI-DSS, and WCAG/Section 508 standards.
Build the first formal management layer by establishing engineering and product-ops practices that scale without bureaucracy.

Requirements

Proven experience leading a technology and product transformation in tandem with measurable delivery and adoption outcomes.
History of shipping AI-embedded product capabilities or leading sustained AI experimentation.
Daily agentic AI usage and practical implementation experience.
Experience owning product direction and shifting roadmaps from customer-reactive to market-facing.
Direct ownership of a SaaS platform security posture and compliance requirements such as SOC 2 and industry standards.
Background in designing or redesigning data architectures for analytics, BI, and AI.
Track record of building, scaling, and managing engineering teams directly, including addressing underperformance without relying on HR.
Experience making architecture and product investment decisions tied to commercial rationale, retention, and revenue.

Nice to Have

Experience in EdTech, higher education technology, admissions or enrollment management, CRM ecosystems, or vertical SaaS with heavy customization.
Familiarity with centralized application services or SIS/CRM integrations common in higher education.
Background operating in AWS-primary infrastructure environments with regulated data like FERPA.
Track record of consolidating multi-codebase or heavily forked platforms into maintainable SaaS products.

Salary and Benefits

The expected base salary for this position ranges from $185,000 to $200,000+ per year, excluding annual bonus and equity when applicable. Compensation is determined by market conditions, location, job-related skills, and experience.
