Role Overview

The Red Team and Safety group at Scale AI stress-tests top-tier artificial intelligence models, influencing deployment standards for labs, enterprises, and governments. As a Technical Program Manager, the individual will oversee a portfolio of partner relationships with frontier AI developers. The position requires bridging research, operations, and go-to-market teams to scale projects from one-off tasks into long-term collaborations.

Key Responsibilities

Own daily relationships and communication with a portfolio of frontier lab partners.
Serve as a subject matter expert in discussions with technical buyers, explaining adversarial methodologies, vulnerability taxonomies, and benchmark results.
Collaborate with Enterprise and Public Sector account teams to help secure deals involving safety, red teaming, or LLM-based cybersecurity.
Coordinate delivery timelines, resource capacity, and project scope with research and operations leads while removing roadblocks.
Contribute to public benchmark launches by helping shape narrative frameworks and rollout strategies.
Translate customer feedback and emerging product issues into actionable signals for the product roadmap.

Requirements

Working fluency in model behavior, adversarial machine learning, and AI safety concepts.
Experience managing technical accounts or partnerships with frontier AI labs, major enterprises, or government agencies.
Demonstrated personal or professional interest in the field of AI safety.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to bridge technical and commercial audiences.
High operational rigor, including careful scoping, tracking of commitments, and execution through ambiguity.

Nice to Have

Two or more years of relevant experience.
Hands-on background in red teaming, penetration testing, or adversarial machine learning.
Prior experience at a frontier AI lab, national security agency, or AI policy organization.
Experience contributing to public benchmarks, research publications, or evaluations.
Advanced degree in a relevant technical field.

Salary and Benefits

Eligible roles at Scale AI receive a comprehensive compensation package that includes base salary, equity, and benefits. For this full-time position located in San Francisco or New York, the base salary range is $151,200 to $189,000 USD. Additional benefits include comprehensive health, dental, and vision coverage, retirement benefits, a learning and development stipend, generous paid time off, and potential commuter stipends. Equity grants are subject to Board of Director approval.
