About this role

OpenAI's Industrial Compute organization is building and operating the infrastructure foundation for the next generation of artificial intelligence. Infrastructure Operations works across facilities, hardware, network operations, incident management, data center engineering, delivery teams, and external partners to bring capacity online safely and improve it over time.

As a Technical Program Manager for Infrastructure Systems & Tooling, the person in this role will own the systems, data, reporting, governance, and program-management backbone for Infrastructure Operations. Reporting to the Delivery & Operations Lead, daily responsibilities include translating strategy into executable goals, turning operational needs into software and data solutions, and managing the 1P+3P delivery-tracking layer across milestones, timelines, and executive reporting.

Ideal candidates are comfortable navigating ambiguity, technically fluent enough to implement real systems, and relentless about converting scattered information into durable mechanisms. Someone who thrives in complex technical environments, balances high operational stakes with rigor, and can align cross-functional teams without direct authority will succeed here.

What you will do

  • Establish and run Infrastructure Operations goal-setting and operating cadences, including quarterly goals, weekly performance reviews, and escalation paths.
  • Maintain source-of-truth hygiene across goals, status, dates, risks, and decisions by translating leadership priorities into structured programs.
  • Build and operate dashboards, scorecards, and executive-ready reporting for operational health, capacity readiness, and delivery pipeline status.
  • Own the 1P+3P delivery-tracking program across sites and partners, integrating schedule inputs and surfacing risks early.
  • Define Operations requirements for capacity acceptance, operational handover, and controlled-document lifecycles.
  • Lead operations software and tooling implementations from discovery through rollout by mapping workflows, writing requirements, and partnering with engineering and vendors.
  • Improve connections among reporting, ticketing, knowledge, delivery-tracking, and operational systems to establish consistent data sources.

What you need

  • Bring 8 or more years of experience in technical program management, operations program management, infrastructure delivery, or operations transformation.
  • Have led end-to-end software or systems implementations for an operations organization, including workflow discovery, data models, and testing.
  • Demonstrate fluency with dashboards, KPIs, operational data, and executive reporting to turn incomplete inputs into trusted definitions.
  • Have built functional governance mechanisms that work in practice, such as goal-setting, operating reviews, and risk management.
  • Bring direct experience with data centers, construction, commissioning, infrastructure operations, cloud, manufacturing, or mission-critical physical infrastructure.
  • Hold a bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Construction Management, Operations Management, Business, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Nice to have

  • Experience with hyperscale or AI infrastructure, including 1P, 3P, colocation, or CSP delivery models.
  • Familiarity with project controls, scheduling, operational readiness, commissioning, and handover governance.
  • Technical fluency with APIs, integration patterns, BI/reporting tools, workflow platforms, and SQL or equivalent analytical skills.
  • Experience managing vendors, consultants, or embedded support resources and converting ad hoc support into repeatable operating capability.

Benefits

  • Offers Equity
