About this role

OpenAI requires a Strategy & Operations Lead in London to address how global artificial intelligence strategies translate into meaningful local impact across European markets. The EMEA organization needs someone to bridge high-level corporate goals with practical regional execution, specifically focusing on consumer growth while supporting adjacent business-to-business opportunities.

Working as an individual contributor, the person in this role will develop local plans, analyze market barriers, and personally drive initiatives from diagnosis through to measurable outcomes. Candidates who succeed here combine rigorous analytical capabilities with hands-on execution, operating with high ownership in ambiguous environments while influencing cross-functional teams without formal authority.

What you will do

  • Develop country strategies, priorities, and forecasts for key European markets to translate company goals into local action.
  • Drive growth and conversion metrics across acquisition, engagement, retention, and monetization using data and customer insights.
  • Lead market expansion and localization by identifying opportunities and building scalable launch frameworks.
  • Move initiatives personally from initial diagnosis and prioritization through delivery, measurement, and iteration.
  • Align cross-functional teams spanning product, growth, marketing, brand, partnerships, finance, research, operations, and compliance around shared outcomes.
  • Ensure regional European market perspectives shape global roadmaps and company decisions.
  • Define success metrics and determine when successful local approaches should be replicated across EMEA.

What you need

  • Bring over ten years of experience in growth, strategy, business operations, or quantitative analytics with meaningful responsibility for outcomes.
  • Demonstrate a history of developing country, regional, or multi-market strategies and translating them into focused execution plans.
  • Possess exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills covering forecasting, financial modeling, and growth metrics.
  • Show concrete examples of personally taking initiatives from insight through launch and measurement.
  • Maintain a deep understanding of European markets while keeping a regional and scalable perspective.
  • Communicate clearly with senior stakeholders and influence teams effectively without relying on formal authority.
  • Operate with high ownership and urgency within ambiguous and resource-constrained environments.
  • Display a deep interest in artificial intelligence and alignment with OpenAI's mission.

Benefits

  • Relocation assistance to new employees
