AlphaSense is seeking a remote Staff Cloud Platform Engineer - Cloud Developer Experience based in the United Kingdom to design and operate production-grade delivery infrastructure for a global engineering organization. This role is ideal for an experienced platform engineer with strong software development skills who wants to shape best-in-class developer workflows and CI/CD practices.

Role Overview

As a Staff Cloud Platform Engineer focusing on Cloud Developer Experience, the successful candidate will own the outer loop of software development for approximately 400 engineers globally. The position involves designing and operating production-grade delivery infrastructure, writing hands-on code, and collaborating across time zones with engineering leaders. The professional in this role will champion progressive delivery methods, enhance CI/CD reliability, and integrate AI tooling into the software development lifecycle to drive productivity and engineering velocity.

Key Responsibilities

Own and evolve the CI/CD architecture and the overall developer-facing experience from code merge to production.
Drive continuous improvements focusing on pipeline speed, reliability, and predictability.
Define paved paths enabling product teams to ship code quickly and safely without needing deep platform knowledge.
Champion progressive delivery practices such as canary deployments and automated rollbacks.
Build tooling that makes deployments repeatable, observable, and entirely self-service.
Own and evolve the Internal Developer Portal and the associated self-service experiences.
Partner closely with Cloud Platform teams on underlying infrastructure while retaining ownership of developer-facing delivery.
Embed AI tooling directly into delivery workflows to generate lasting productivity gains.

Requirements

Strong background in Platform Engineering or Developer Experience roles centered on CI/CD and delivery, ideally within organizations of 200 or more engineers.
Extensive experience owning and operating a CI/CD platform at the architecture and admin level, covering security, configuration, and enablement.
Demonstrated ability to design and operate delivery systems at scale.
Hands-on software development experience that includes production-quality Go and Python.
A passion for progressive delivery practices like automated rollbacks and canary deployments.
Familiarity with cloud-native architectures and Kubernetes-based platforms.
Enthusiasm for using AI to enhance developer experience, quality, and velocity.
Strong collaboration skills with the ability to influence and lead across multiple teams.

Nice to Have

Experience building or maintaining an Internal Developer Portal in a production environment.
Previous professional background working across both Software and Platform Engineering teams.
A keen interest in security alongside a solid understanding of OAuth and RBAC.
