In this role, the selected engineer will design and operate large-scale backend systems that ingest, process, and enrich diverse content types like filings, transcripts, and news. Responsibilities include building high-throughput data pipelines, establishing technical direction alongside product leadership, and integrating AI capabilities into production systems. The team handles complex technical challenges by turning ambiguous problems into concrete, executable strategies while raising the engineering bar across the organization through mentorship and architectural reviews.
What you will do
- Define architecture, set technical direction, and own the technical roadmap alongside product leadership.
- Take ambiguous problems and break them down into deliverable increments with clear risk identification.
- Design and deliver scalable production-grade systems, robust services, and high-performance solutions.
- Leverage AI tools within daily workflows to accelerate development and evaluate AI/ML capabilities for production systems.
- Drive cross-team technical initiatives by leading RFCs and architectural reviews to build consensus on hard decisions.
- Own software from requirements to release and production, monitoring SLOs and troubleshooting issues for reliability.
- Raise the engineering bar across the organization through code reviews, mentorship, and thorough technical documentation.
What you need
- Demonstrate strong proficiency in Python as the primary backend language.
- Possess the ability to work across languages with production code shipped in at least two languages.
- Design and own production systems serving real users at scale with a history of consequential architectural decisions.
- Lead cross-team technical initiatives without formal authority, driving migrations or platform changes across multiple groups.
- Apply strong system design instincts focusing on failure modes, data flow, scalability, and operational cost.
- Bring deep DevOps and operational experience spanning Kubernetes, cloud infrastructure, CI/CD, and observability.
- Maintain a track record of mentoring engineers and raising team standards through pairing, reviews, and leading by example.
Nice to have
- Experience leading large-scale migrations or platform rewrites
- Hands-on experience with AI/ML in production such as LLMs, BERT, NLP pipelines, or document understanding systems
- Familiarity with Java, GitOps, ArgoCD, or Infrastructure as Code
- Active practitioner of AI-assisted development
