The Staff Applied Scientist for Recommendation Systems at Glance in Bengaluru is a senior technical role focused on owning and driving high-impact machine learning systems that power personalization across company products. This position suits an experienced data science professional with a deep background in scaling recommendation engines and deploying production-ready models.

Key Responsibilities

Design, build, and deploy large-scale recommendation and personalization models using high-volume data sources.
Lead rapid experimentation phases, covering hypothesis formulation, offline evaluation, and online A/B testing while balancing speed and business impact.
Develop and productionize end-to-end machine learning pipelines encompassing data preparation, feature engineering, model training, evaluation, and ongoing monitoring.
Partner with Product, Engineering, Design, UX, and Business teams to transform product goals into scalable machine learning solutions.
Monitor model health and performance by applying statistical techniques to ensure long-term robustness and effectiveness.
Explore and prototype advanced machine learning techniques to enhance content relevance, user engagement, and monetization.
Act as a technical interface for stakeholders to articulate trade-offs, results, and strategic next steps.
Contribute to the company's thought leadership through blogs, case studies, and industry conference talks.

Requirements

Bring ten or more years of industry experience in Machine Learning or Data Science, specifically building large-scale recommendation or personalization systems.
Possess hands-on experience applying techniques from Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Natural Language Processing, Reinforcement Learning, Time Series, and Statistics.
Demonstrate strong programming skills in Python alongside production-quality coding practices.
Work comfortably within big data ecosystems, particularly utilizing Apache Spark.
Show familiarity with major cloud platforms including AWS, GCP, or Azure.
Hold a Bachelor's or Master's degree in a quantitative field such as Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Statistics, Mathematics, Operations Research, Economics, Analytics, or Data Science.

Nice to Have

Experience operating in identity-constrained or privacy-aware environments such as mobile operating systems and identity-less architectures.
Possession of a PhD in a relevant quantitative discipline.
