AlphaSense is seeking a Staff Android Engineer to join the team in Helsinki, Finland. This hands-on position suits an experienced engineering professional looking to own the Android architecture and shape mobile-facing foundations for enterprise market intelligence products.

Key Responsibilities

Own and evolve the core Android platform foundation by defining native architecture, modular boundaries, and engineering patterns for fast, secure experiences.
Drive hands-on Android system design to translate complex product challenges into durable production architecture.
Improve reliability and delivery confidence through advanced automation, observability, rollout strategies, and AI-enabled validation practices.
Establish clear mobile-system contracts in partnership with iOS, backend, product, and design teams to protect native product quality.
Elevate mobile-system judgment across engineering teams by converting complex technical work into reusable standards.

Requirements

Extensive expertise in modern production Android architecture with a history of setting technical standards for a platform or native domain.
Capability to represent mobile platform principles with enough iOS fluency to influence cross-functional architectural decisions.
Experience in shaping mobile-facing platform contracts, API behaviors, or backend service boundaries that enhance native client quality.
Ability to inspect, debug, and make targeted contributions to backend systems to unblock mobile outcomes when necessary.
Experience designing AI-enabled engineering systems that boost validation, quality, and delivery confidence.
Strong judgment in production mobile reliability, release quality, and mentoring other engineers through clear standards and reusable patterns.
Outstanding product judgment and communication skills to connect technical decisions with customer outcomes.

Nice to Have

Background in creating Android product experiences across diverse device formats like foldables, wearables, or Android Auto.
Familiarity with enterprise mobile environments involving identity, compliance, security, or mobile device management constraints.
Experience designing mobile design-system foundations and design-to-code workflows to improve accessibility and development speed.
