Role Overview

Scale AI is looking for a Software Engineer to join the Physical AI Engineering team in Argentina or Uruguay. The robotics business unit solves critical data bottlenecks across robotics, computer vision, and autonomous vehicles. The chosen candidate will build production systems for robotics data collection, create machine learning training pipelines, and develop robust evaluation infrastructure. This position involves owning major parts of the robotics platform, shaping embodied AI systems, and collaborating directly with cutting-edge autonomous vehicle and robotics customers.

Key Responsibilities

Design and architect large-scale data processing pipelines tailored for autonomous vehicle and robotics datasets.
Build machine learning training and fine-tuning pipelines utilizing specialized robotics data.
Develop end-to-end solutions spanning backend and frontend technology stacks.
Create real-time systems and tools supporting robotics data collection, teleoperation, model evaluation, and data annotation.
Interact directly with autonomous vehicle and robotics stakeholders to understand technical requirements and guide product growth.
Establish comprehensive monitoring and evaluation frameworks focused on robotics models and data quality.
Tackle complex, late-stage industry challenges in real-time and concurrent robotic systems while managing timing constraints and data integrity.
Collaborate alongside machine learning engineers and researchers to transition research into reliable production environments.

Requirements

Minimum of 6 years of high-proficiency software engineering experience, highlighting a strong background in complex systems and autonomous problem-solving.
Solid programming skills in Python and TypeScript or Node.js for production environments.
Practical experience with React and modern frontend development focused on 3D interfaces.
Familiarity with concurrent and real-time systems, paying close attention to timing constraints.
Understanding of distributed systems, workflow orchestration, and cloud infrastructure including AWS, Kubernetes, and Docker.
Working knowledge of databases such as PostgreSQL and MongoDB alongside large-scale data processing.
Demonstrated ability to work smoothly alongside cross-functional partners including researchers, machine learning engineers, and customers.
Strong communication skills paired with the capacity to operate with high autonomy.

Nice to Have

Practical experience with C++.
Background using robotics hardware platforms like mobile robots, robotic arms, and perception systems with a focus on time synchronization.
Knowledge of computer vision, SLAM, motion planning, or imitation learning.
Familiarity with 3D data processing, lidar technologies, or autonomous vehicle data.
Experience deploying and serving machine learning models.
Knowledge of VR interfaces or teleoperation systems such as UMI and ALOHA.
Familiarity with workflow orchestration tools like Airflow or Temporal.
Published research or open-source contributions within robotics or autonomous systems.
