About this role
Federal agencies lack the unified systems required to ingest, process, and act upon massive datasets in real-time contested environments, creating a critical bottleneck for operational decision-making. Public Sector engineers build the foundational product architecture that allows government stakeholders to harness reliable artificial intelligence for high-stakes missions. New graduates on this team own impactful features from day one, collaborating directly with defense and civil operators to ship software, optimize retrieval pipelines, and harden applications for secure environments.
Candidates joining this group will work on multi-layered guardrails, agent orchestration, and evaluation infrastructure designed to measure model reliability against strict mission requirements. Success in the role requires product engineering experience, comfort with ambiguity, and the communication skills necessary to translate technical concepts for non-technical users. Individuals who thrive here enjoy fast-paced iteration, large-scale data processing, and building tools that directly influence national security and public sector technology.
What you will do
- Build multi-layered guardrails to ensure agents operate safely and predictably in high-stakes federal environments.
- Optimize data retrieval for agents by implementing retrieval-augmented generation pipelines over large, heterogeneous federal datasets.
- Develop orchestration frameworks for fleets of asynchronous agents managing long-horizon tasks.
- Create user interfaces that illustrate how agents reach decisions so operators can audit and trust system outputs.
- Develop data pipelines and machine learning infrastructure that make siloed government data sources accessible to agents.
- Build evaluation infrastructure to measure model reliability against specific mission requirements.
- Deploy and harden full-stack applications into secure, air-gapped, and cloud-native government environments.
What you need
- Graduation date in Fall 2026 or Spring 2027 with a Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a relevant field such as Computer Science, EECS, Computer Engineering, or Statistics.
- Demonstrated product engineering experience building web applications full-stack and integrating with relevant APIs and services.
- Previous product or software engineering internship experience.
- Track record of shipping high-quality products and features at scale.
- Experience building systems that process large volumes of data.
- Familiarity with Python, Typescript, React, and/or MongoDB.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for working directly with government stakeholders and non-technical audiences.
- Comfort with ambiguity, evolving requirements, and a willingness to learn new domains quickly.
Nice to have
- Hands-on experience with LLMs, evaluations, or agentic systems from internships, research, or personal projects
- Familiarity with cloud platforms including AWS, Azure, and GCP, along with containerization and orchestration tools like Docker and Kubernetes
- Exposure to ETL, data modeling, data warehousing, or data governance
- Prior experience with or demonstrated interest in national security, defense, or civil government technology
- Open source contributions or a portfolio of shipped side projects
Benefits
- Comprehensive health, dental, and vision coverage
- Retirement benefits
- Learning and development stipend
- Generous PTO
- Commuter stipend
