Role Overview

Software Engineers create core product building blocks utilized by forward-deployed teams to develop agentic capabilities across multiple domains. Professionals in this position build systems required to ingest and process federal datasets, supporting real-time decision-making in contested environments. Responsibilities include owning the development of a vertical feature or horizontal capability, starting from defining requirements with stakeholders through to final implementation and acceptance.

Key Responsibilities

Design and implement scalable backend systems tailored for Federal customers using cloud-native AI infrastructure.
Build features specifically for agentic systems, which include multi-layered guardrails and data retrieval optimization.
Develop data pipelines and machine learning infrastructure to make various data sources accessible to agents.
Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to execute secure backend solutions.
Participate in customer engagements to understand specific requirements and deliver technical solutions.
Define project requirements with stakeholders and implement features until final stakeholder acceptance.
Contribute to the platform roadmap and product strategy specifically for the Federal business sector.

Requirements

Proficiency in full-stack development, covering front-end, back-end, and infrastructure utilizing modern web development frameworks, programming languages, and databases.
Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, and GCP, alongside experience deploying applications in cloud-native environments.
Knowledge of containerization with Docker and container orchestration using Kubernetes.
Understanding of ETL processes, data pipelines, data modeling, data warehousing, and data governance principles.
Familiarity with integrating Large Language Models, prompt engineering, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), and agent orchestration.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Adaptability and willingness to learn new technologies and embrace evolving project requirements.

Salary and Benefits

Compensation packages include base salary, equity, and benefits. Base salary ranges vary by location: for San Francisco and New York, the range is $180,000 to $259,000 USD; for Washington, DC, it is $162,400 to $233,000 USD; and for St. Louis, it is $135,200 to $194,000 USD. Eligible employees receive equity-based compensation subject to Board of Director approval. Additional benefits include comprehensive health, dental, and vision coverage, retirement benefits, a learning and development stipend, generous PTO, and potentially a commuter stipend.
