About this role

Developing the initial versions of native learning experiences starting in ChatGPT, this full-stack engineering role involves driving product features from prototype through production hardening. The position focuses on shaping how enterprise users build practical AI skills, set up coaching and feedback loops, and track workforce readiness and progress.

Operating in a 0-to-1 product area, the engineer defines core systems such as learner state, telemetry, evaluation, and content integration. Collaboration happens closely with education, design, research, and go-to-market teams to translate learning science into practical software. Ideal candidates bring strong full-stack skills, startup or early-product experience, and a deep interest in education or AI literacy.

What you will do

  • Own the technical vision and end-to-end execution for native learning offerings starting within ChatGPT.
  • Design and build core architectural systems including learner state, progress tracking, telemetry, and evaluation pipelines.
  • Create reusable components and internal tools that allow content partners to develop and configure learning experiences.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams across design, research, data, and education to translate learning goals into product requirements.
  • Define learner intent and evaluate product quality, adoption, and skill transfer using quantitative data and user feedback.
  • Make pragmatic tradeoffs across speed, scalability, and operational simplicity in an early-stage product environment.

What you need

  • Have at least 5 years of experience as a software engineer working on applied AI or user-facing systems.
  • Demonstrate a record of staff-level technical leadership and hands-on delivery in high-quality software products.
  • Possess strong full-stack engineering skills including modern frontend technologies like TypeScript and React, backend services, and relational databases.
  • Show practical judgment regarding distributed systems, reliability, performance, and stateful user flows.
  • Bring experience building in 0-to-1 or fast-moving product environments where requirements are still evolving.
  • Maintain high standards for user empathy, product interaction quality, accessibility, security, and safety.

Nice to have

  • Former founder or early engineer at a startup who built a product from scratch.
  • Experience building education, edtech, learning, tutoring, coaching, assessment, onboarding, training, or enablement products.
  • Experience in AI literacy, workforce learning, enterprise enablement, or developer education.
  • Experience building AI products, LLM applications, developer tools, or personalized user experiences.
  • Experience translating research into product decisions, experiments, evaluation, measurement, and iteration.
