About this role

This Software Engineer position at Dscout offers an exciting opportunity to build cutting-edge AI-native products from a remote location in India. This role suits a driven developer with two to seven years of experience who enjoys taking ownership of ambiguous problems and designing trustworthy user experiences.

Role Overview

Dscout is looking for a Software Engineer with two to seven years of experience to join its international team remotely from India. In this position, the engineer takes full ownership of end-to-end product delivery, transforming vague and half-formed problem statements into shipped software that real researchers and participants use. The role involves working across the full technology stack, collaborating directly with Product and Design teams, and building intuitive interfaces that make non-deterministic AI behavior understandable and trustworthy.

Key Responsibilities

Own the complete delivery lifecycle of product features from initial concept to shipped software.
Partner directly with Product and Design teams to help define what to build rather than just executing on tickets.
Build web application flows, dashboards, and in-product controls that make AI-driven behaviors easy to control.
Integrate LLM-based features and agent outputs seamlessly into standard product workflows.
Talk directly to users when necessary and use insights to influence design and prioritization decisions.
Ship quickly, add instrumentation, and iterate based on real-world usage metrics.
Focus on craftsmanship, addressing interaction design, edge cases, error states, and overall product feel.

Requirements

Two to seven years of professional software engineering experience shipping full-stack product features.
Comfort working across both frontend and backend systems to deliver working solutions.
Proven track record of taking underspecified or vague problems and shipping real software independently.
Genuine user empathy with a focus on understanding actual user intent.
Working fluency with LLM-based systems, including building features on top of LLM APIs or agents.
Strong product judgment regarding tradeoffs such as build versus buy and LLM versus deterministic logic.
Familiarity with design systems to independently make sound UX choices on smaller details.
Comfort utilizing AI coding tools like Cursor, Claude Code, or Copilot in daily workflows.

Nice to Have

Experience building features on top of conversational or voice AI technologies.
Familiarity with LLM observability or evaluation tooling.
Experience partnering closely with UX or qualitative research teams.
Direct background in talking to users or executing lightweight user research.

Skills and Tools

LLM APIs and agent systems
Full-stack development (frontend and backend)
AI coding assistants (Cursor, Claude Code, Copilot)
Interaction design and UX decision-making
