Role Overview

Dscout is seeking an Applied AI Engineer for a remote position based in India to build and scale advanced artificial intelligence systems. This role is ideal for software professionals with two to five years of experience who want to design production-ready generative AI and agentic workflows for enterprise environments.

Key Responsibilities

Own the production improvement loop encompassing agent behavior, operator feedback, experimentation, and business outcomes.
Instrument agent workflows to monitor model interactions, tool use, decisions, and failures in context.
Define quality standards, representative evaluation datasets, and production monitoring mechanisms.
Investigate underperforming agents across context, knowledge, routing, guardrails, and workflow design.
Design and ship targeted behavior improvements including prompt updates, context construction, and tool use.
Build backend services, APIs, and data models to make agent behavior observable and reproducible.
Run controlled experiments and staged rollouts to measure quality and business results.
Partner with Product, Data Science, and Sales teams to prioritize high-value problems and ensure appropriate privacy and security safeguards.

Requirements

Two to five years of software engineering experience.
Hands-on experience building or operating LLM-powered features or agents in production environments.
Fluency with prompting and context engineering as an engineering discipline.
Experience building or maintaining evaluation harnesses for AI systems, such as offline evaluation sets or human-in-the-loop scoring.
Genuine comfort with non-determinism and managing agent behavior across a distribution of production traffic.
Experience running experiments like A/B tests or staged rollouts to validate performance changes.
Track record of shipping features that real users depend on with post-launch ownership.
High-agency mindset with comfort investigating ambiguous underperformance problems.
Comfort using AI coding tools such as Cursor, Claude Code, or GitHub Copilot.

Nice to Have

Experience with voice or real-time conversational AI systems.
Familiarity with LLM observability and tracing tools such as Braintrust, LangSmith, or Datadog LLM Observability.
Experience with agentic orchestration frameworks like LangChain or LangGraph.
Exposure to Model Context Protocol (MCP) based tooling or agentic data workflows.
