Delivering well-scoped features from implementation through production forms the core of daily work for this position. Engineers at Pendo build experiences that help customers understand users and improve software, working closely with product and design teams in the Raleigh office.
This role exists to drive both traditional full-stack delivery and emerging AI capabilities. Responsibilities include building backend services and APIs alongside polished frontend features in Vue, JavaScript, and TypeScript, while incorporating AI tools and MCP into the development workflow.

What you will do
- Own well-scoped features from initial implementation through production release by breaking work into small, independently shippable increments.
- Build across the frontend and backend with a strong focus on TypeScript and Vue.js to deliver reliable customer-facing experiences and the APIs that power them.
- Develop and expand MCP and AI-powered capabilities using LLMs and agentic workflows to help customers interact with their Pendo data.
- Write maintainable, production-ready code while applying appropriate testing strategies and following established patterns for safe operational rollouts.
- Utilize AI coding tools as a core part of the daily workflow while applying rigorous code review standards and engineering judgment.
- Participate actively in team planning, technical discussions, and code reviews to move shared development goals forward.
- Build deeper system knowledge to identify recurring issues, risks, and opportunities for improving code quality and software delivery.
What you need
- Minimum of two years of professional experience as a software engineer building and shipping production web applications.
- Hands-on experience building full-stack applications with backend services and APIs, backed by strong frontend skills in JavaScript or TypeScript and component-based frameworks like Vue, React, or Angular.
- Demonstrated daily use of artificial intelligence tools as an integrated part of the software development workflow.
- Proven ability to independently deliver well-scoped features and break complex tasks into smaller deliverable increments.
- Practical experience applying unit, integration, or end-to-end testing strategies tailored to the risk and scope of code changes.
- Demonstrated capability to identify risks and blockers early, communicate them effectively, and drive progress independently.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills for participating in planning sessions, technical talks, and code reviews.
- A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical industry experience.

- Experience building applications that operate on large-scale datasets, including millions or billions of records, long-running queries, or asynchronous processing
- Experience building AI-powered product features using technologies such as LLM APIs, agents, or Model Context Protocol

This role is based in the Pendo office in Raleigh, NC. Pendo operates on a hybrid culture requiring in-office presence three days per week unless designated remote.
What is the compensation range for the position?
The expected salary range for this role when performed in Raleigh, NC is $108,000 to $131,000. Additional benefits include a strong 401(k) match, equity, and flexible time off.
