The Software Engineer, AI Agents position at Cloudflare in Bangalore, India, is an engineering role for building industrial-scale AI agents that directly support customers. This role suits an experienced builder with 5 to 10 years of background who wants to deploy production-grade AI code that powers real customer interactions at a global scale from day one.

Key Responsibilities

Build agents on Workers utilizing Durable Objects for state management and short-term memory.
Wire tools together using the Agent SDK, Model Context Protocol, and function calling.
Utilize Vectorize, KV, R2, and D1 for semantic memory, caching, files, and configuration.
Execute models through Workers AI and AI Gateway while integrating third-party services when necessary.
Create evaluations, guardrails, and audits to measure, tune, and re-ship code rapidly.
Build agents capable of summarizing data, proposing fixes, and escalating cleanly to humans.
Expose agent health and metrics through transparent dashboards and integrate with queues and webhooks.
Take end-to-end ownership, including participating in on-call rotations for deployed systems.
Design and maintain robust observability for distributed AI workflows with structured logging and end-to-end tracing.
Architect security boundaries for agent-led operations, including secure credential handling and multi-layer approval gates.

Requirements

Demonstrated success in shipping production systems with visible repositories and releases.
Strong proficiency in TypeScript or Rust on Workers.
Solid understanding of HTTP, queues, asynchronous programming, and performance tuning.
Fluency with Durable Objects, KV or R2, and either D1 or Postgres.
Hands-on experience with model tooling, prompt I/O, tool calling, evaluations, and safety checks.
Observability mindset focusing on logs, traces, metrics, and redlines.
Experience with multi-agent frameworks and developing LLM evaluation frameworks with automated scoring and quality gates.
A strong bias for simple, scalable designs.

Nice to Have

Experience running Workers AI, AI Gateway, and Vectorize in production.
Salesforce or Service Cloud experience alongside webhooks and case APIs.
Security depth covering prompt injection protection, secrets detection, and PII handling.
Familiarity with open-source agent frameworks.
