Role Overview

Cloudflare is hiring a Rack Integration Operations Engineer to work in a hybrid capacity within the Infrastructure Engineering and Strategy teams. The person in this role acts as a technical quality gatekeeper and operational partner across hardware build programs, bridging engineering specifications with external contract manufacturing partners. Responsibilities include ensuring Bill of Materials accuracy, optimizing materials planning, tracking partner performance, and modernizing internal operations through lightweight AI-enabled automations.

Key Responsibilities

Ensure Bill of Materials (BOM) accuracy by validating complex BOMs prior to release, identifying part substitutions, and resolving spec mismatches.
Partner with hardware design engineers to address design change requests and BOM discrepancies throughout the build lifecycle.
Evaluate build compliance against Cloudflare specifications across rack-level power, networking, server, and firmware architectures.
Support demand forecasting, materials planning, and inbound or outbound supply chain logistics for components and finished racks.
Serve as an operational point of contact for external hardware integration partners regarding build progress, scheduling, and issue resolution.
Track SLAs and quality metrics, contribute to vendor scorecards, and lead root-cause analyses for recurring defects.
Manage hardware build cycles, documentation, and project closeouts in Jira alongside cross-functional teammates.
Automate repetitive operational workflows across BOM reviews, reporting, and partner tracking using AI tools and LLM prompt engineering.
Evaluate spend, build timelines, and quality trends using AI-assisted analysis tools to surface operational insights.
Develop and maintain lightweight automation scripts and workflows for broader team adoption.

Requirements

Professional background managing hardware vendor or contract manufacturing relationships, including BOM validation, quality tracking, and schedule management.
Practical ability to evaluate rack-level technical specifications such as power distribution, networking, server hardware, and firmware.
Hands-on experience managing operational workflows in Jira, including tracking and reporting on team KPIs and SLAs.
Practical experience using AI tools or LLMs to automate concrete workflows, optimize reporting, or perform data analysis.
Strong written and verbal communication skills for collaborating across engineering, procurement, supply chain, and external partner teams.

Nice to Have

Background in data center infrastructure hardware like servers, network switches, rPDUs, and enterprise cabling.
Experience writing lightweight scripts in Python, Google Apps Script, or similar languages paired with AI developer tools.
Familiarity with global hardware supply chain and logistics operations.
Experience with Oracle ERP Cloud, SAP, or NetSuite for BOM management, purchase orders, and materials tracking.
