About this role
Enterprises need to execute autonomous workflows and orchestrate multi-step tasks across complex applications, and this hire will design the systems that solve that exact challenge. Writer builds an end-to-end platform for enterprise generative AI, enabling major brands to deploy trustworthy AI agents grounded in their proprietary data. The engineering team focuses on creating secure agent-driven services, high-throughput APIs, and robust infrastructure that integrate with vector databases and external systems.
In daily work, this fullstack software engineer will build scalable services, shape architectural decisions, and collaborate closely with product managers, researchers, and UX teams to turn abstract agent concepts into production software. Success in this position requires a builder who combines strong backend engineering fundamentals with hands-on experience in native agentic coding and modern AI frameworks. Candidates who thrive here are pragmatic problem-solvers who enjoy moving fast and tackling complex distributed systems challenges.
What you will do
- Design and maintain secure, scalable agent-driven systems that autonomously execute tasks using modern AI frameworks.
- Build robust infrastructure and high-throughput APIs emphasizing memory, communication channels, skills, and intelligent decision logic.
- Connect agent capabilities with backend services, data stores, vector databases, search systems, and external APIs.
- Partner with product managers, AI researchers, data engineers, and UX teams to deliver production-ready software.
- Maintain reliability, monitoring, and observability across all agent components through proper metrics, logging, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Contribute to architectural choices and participate in thorough code reviews to ensure long-term code quality.
What you need
- Bring at least three years of professional software engineering experience with deep production proficiency in Python.
- Demonstrate native agentic coding ability through daily use of platforms like Cursor and Claude Code.
- Show proven background in building distributed systems, microservices, or complex backend APIs supporting AI workflows.
- Possess solid expertise integrating AI models, agent frameworks like LangGraph, vector databases, and large context reasoning services.
- Understand agent orchestration patterns, state management, and asynchronous workflows.
- Have familiarity with cloud platforms, containerization tools such as Docker and Kubernetes, and operational engineering best practices.
Nice to have
- Past work on AI agents that coordinate multi-step actions, reasoning, or autonomous decision-making loops.
- Contributions to open-source agent toolkits or SDKs.
- Experience with frontend technologies like React and TypeScript for tooling around agent management interfaces.
Benefits
- Generous PTO, plus company holidays
- Comprehensive medical and dental insurance
- Paid parental leave for all parents (16 weeks)
- Fertility and family planning support
- Early-detection cancer testing through Galleri
- Competitive pension scheme and company contribution
- Annual work-life stipends for wellness and learning
- Company-wide off-sites and team off-sites
- Competitive compensation and company stock options
