About this role

Developers adopting third-party AI frameworks often struggle to connect those tools effectively with existing database capabilities. To bridge this gap, MongoDB is establishing a foundational engineering team in Gurugram within the AI Builders Experience organization, focusing on the connective layer between the database and ecosystems like LangChain, LlamaIndex, and n8n.

Software Engineers joining this group will design, test, and ship integrations primarily using Python and TypeScript. Much of this work happens publicly through upstream pull requests, external review cycles, and active engagement in developer communities. The environment suits engineers who adapt well to shifting priorities, enjoy collaborative problem-solving, and take ownership of projects from design through release.

What you will do

  • Build, test, and ship MongoDB integrations across a broad AI framework ecosystem that includes technologies like LangChain, LangGraph, LlamaIndex, n8n, and Mastra.
  • Own well-scoped projects end to end on weekly-to-quarterly timelines while communicating progress and trade-offs clearly.
  • Solve day-to-day technical problems independently using established patterns and seek guidance on non-standard situations.
  • Contribute high-quality code upstream to repositories outside MongoDB ownership while navigating maintainer review cycles.
  • Work within and improve engineering practices such as CI/CD, automated testing, version compatibility checks, and release steps.
  • Keep integrations healthy by monitoring upstream breaking changes, handling upgrades, and triaging incoming issues.
  • Coordinate with adjacent teams like DBX and collaborate with product management and design to align with user needs.

What you need

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience building backend systems, libraries, or other developer-facing software with proficiency in Python and/or TypeScript.
  • Experience designing, writing, testing, and debugging software in a shared, long-lived code base with a focus on maintainability.
  • Track record of delivering scoped projects reliably and on time with good judgment regarding when to ask for help.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage several projects simultaneously while maintaining quality as priorities shift.
  • Clear interest in modern AI builder workflows, developer tooling landscapes, RAG, and vector search.
  • Solid verbal and written technical communication skills for documenting information clearly for teammates and partners.
  • Enthusiasm for collaboration within a close-knit team alongside intellectual curiosity and honesty.

Nice to have

  • Open source contributions, especially work landing in external repositories
  • Experience building AI or framework integrations, MCP servers, agent skills, or plugins for agentic applications
  • Familiarity with the agentic AI tooling ecosystem and developer integration methods
  • Experience with CI/CD and automated testing for multi-version libraries
  • Working knowledge of Java, Go, C#, or Rust
