Role Overview

MaintainX is hiring a remote Software Development Manager for the AI Builder Tools team in Canada. This full-time role suits an experienced engineering leader passionate about developer tooling, autonomous coding agents, and scaling platform infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

Manage a team of platform engineers to drive delivery, innovation, and quality on the agentic software development lifecycle platform.
Partner with engineering leadership and platform teams to plan, scope, and deliver the infrastructure powering autonomous coding agents.
Mentor, lead, and grow developers to build skills in platform engineering, agent frameworks, and developer tooling.
Set clear goals, provide continuous feedback, and support the team in achieving objectives.
Champion software development excellence by maintaining robust containerized environments, CI/CD pipelines, observability, and agent orchestration practices.
Report progress, impact, and risks to senior leadership, including adoption metrics, agent-produced pull request rates, and quality guardrails.
Collaborate with recruiting and fellow managers to scale, onboard, and hire a world-class platform engineering organization.

Requirements

Bring four or more years of software development management experience with a proven track record of leading infrastructure, developer experience, or platform teams.
Possess a strong technical background in distributed systems, developer tooling, containerization, and continuous integration pipelines.
Show demonstrated experience in project management, technical design, and problem-solving.
Demonstrate a passion for coaching, hiring, and developing diverse platform engineering teams.
Exhibit excellent communication skills with the ability to distill complex ideas and collaborate across technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Nice to Have

Familiarity with Large Language Model agent frameworks, agentic coding infrastructure, or Model Context Protocol tooling.
Experience shipping an AI coding agent or contributing to a platform initiative that measurably improved engineering throughput.

Salary and Benefits

Base salary ranges from $140,000 to $230,000 CAD per year.
Total compensation may include an annual bonus, commission, and equity.
