Role Overview

MaintainX is hiring a full-time Senior AI Platform Engineer to build the shared systems that allow teams to release AI-powered products reliably at scale. Based in San Francisco with remote flexibility, this position suits an experienced backend engineer with a strong background in artificial intelligence infrastructure and systems design.

Key Responsibilities

Design and operate internal services and scalable backend APIs for the AI platform.
Transform large language model integrations and AI tool execution into dependable, production-ready workflows.
Take ownership of production reliability for the AI platform infrastructure by managing observability, incident response, and alerting.
Enhance the cost efficiency and performance of AI runtimes via capacity planning, profiling, and tuning.
Contribute directly to shared infrastructure including deployments, CI/CD, and observability.

Requirements

Bring five or more years of professional background in Python backend development paired with systems design.
Demonstrate prior experience shipping backend systems integrated with artificial intelligence or large language models.
Exhibit comfort working across multiple operational layers encompassing infrastructure, services, data, and AI tooling.
Possess working knowledge of cloud infrastructure platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure alongside Infrastructure as Code tools like Terraform.
Show familiarity with distributed systems, asynchronous processing, and data-heavy services where cost and reliability are crucial at scale.

Salary and Benefits

Base compensation ranges from $132,000 to $262,000 USD per year. Depending on the position, the total compensation package may also feature an annual bonus, commission, and equity.
