Role Overview

IRIS Software Group is seeking a Software Architect for a full-time position located at IRIS Romania. This hands-on Level 4 architecture role focuses on supporting delivery teams and senior architects by producing high-quality architectural artifacts and ensuring consistent implementation. The position is well suited for strong senior engineers or emerging architects who want to broaden their architectural experience across multiple domains and teams.

Key Responsibilities

Produce clear, implementable solution designs and architecture artifacts while translating high-level direction into concrete designs.
Ensure architectural consistency across frontend, backend, and platform components while contributing to the architecture backlog and design refinement.
Support the practical adoption of AI and LLMs in engineering workflows and products by contributing reusable integration patterns.
Guide teams on trade-offs involving cost, accuracy, security, and latency regarding AI usage.
Provide day-to-day architectural guidance, help unblock teams from a design perspective, and support planning by identifying risks and dependencies.
Apply and reinforce cloud-native patterns such as event-driven and scalable systems while supporting the effective use of AWS.
Ensure designs are secure, maintainable, and observable while helping to identify and reduce technical debt.

Requirements

A strong senior engineering background or early architecture experience.
Familiarity with cloud-native systems, with a preference for AWS experience.
Understanding of distributed, event-driven, and full-stack application architectures, including frontend integration patterns.
Ability to convert architectural concepts into implementable designs.
Clear communication skills suitable for both technical and non-technical audiences.
Exposure to AI-assisted development tools and basic experience integrating LLM capabilities or a strong interest in doing so.
Understanding of practical constraints like cost, performance, and security.
Competencies include a pragmatic, delivery-focused mindset, strong systems thinking, a low-ego collaborative approach, and attention to detail.

Nice to Have

Experience with SaaS platforms at scale.
Exposure to Terraform or infrastructure as code principles.
Familiarity with the migration from legacy to modern architectures.
Awareness of security best practices.
Experience working with modern frontend application architectures and APIs.
