Role Overview

IRIS Software Group is seeking a technical leader to drive the transformation of a flagship applicant tracking system from a legacy platform into a modern, cloud-native Azure application. In this position, the engineer owns large features from conception to production support, influences architectural decisions, and establishes engineering standards. The role involves hands-on development using .NET Core backends, UI frameworks, and cloud technologies while guiding other team members toward technical excellence.

Key Responsibilities

Design and deliver complex, scalable systems, high-traffic APIs, and data processing pipelines while anticipating long-term maintainability.
Take ownership of large features and entire components across their complete lifecycle, from design to production support.
Lead technical discussions, establish architectural patterns, and guide technology choices within team systems.
Partner with Product Owners, design, and QA teams during story refinement sessions to provide technical estimation and risk assessment.
Facilitate Agile ceremonies, resolve technical debt, and champion quality practices like automated testing and shift-left testing.
Handle complex software troubleshooting, security reviews, and production incident management.
Mentor junior and mid-level engineers, conduct complex code reviews, and drive responsible AI adoption across the team.

Requirements

5 to 7 years of professional software development experience.
Strong proficiency in .NET Core, C#/VB.NET, ASP.NET Core Web APIs, REST, and distributed systems.
Working knowledge or strong proficiency with ASP.NET MVC, component architecture, and performance optimization.
Solid knowledge of SQL, NoSQL, and CosmosDB data architecture.
Experience with cloud architecture and SaaS using Azure or AWS services.
Containerisation experience using Docker or Kubernetes for production-scale deployments.
Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code using Terraform, Bicep, ARM Templates, or CloudFormation.
Experience designing CI/CD architectures and implementing advanced observability tools like DataDog or Application Insights.
Knowledge of clean architecture, SOLID design principles, domain-driven design, and application security best practices.
Experience integrating AI tools such as Copilot, Cursor, or Claude Code into engineering workflows.

Nice to Have

Experience in regulated or complex domains with audit requirements.
Practical background in designing AI interactions, prompt engineering, and using the Model Context Protocol.
Expertise in advanced monitoring with DataDog, micro-frontends, event-driven architectures, GraphQL, or real-time communication tools.
Advanced cloud certifications in Azure or AWS.
