Role Overview

As a Senior Staff Frontier Agents Engineer on the Enterprise team, the chosen candidate acts as the technical link between Scale AI's generative solutions and major customers. Responsibilities involve understanding unique challenges, architecting custom deployments, and ensuring reliable adoption within production environments. The position blends deep programming skills with customer-facing consulting to integrate AI into critical business operations.

Key Responsibilities

Partner directly with enterprise clients to analyze technical infrastructure, data pipelines, and business requirements.
Design and implement custom integrations between the Scale AI platform and client cloud environments, data warehouses, or internal APIs.
Build robust data connectors and ETL pipelines to ingest, process, and prepare information for artificial intelligence workflows.
Develop production-grade AI agents, multi-agent systems, and human-in-the-loop mechanisms tailored to specific customer use cases.
Create advanced prompt engineering strategies, prompt libraries, and implement RAG systems or fine-tuning pipelines.
Serve as the primary technical point of contact, providing training, documentation, and troubleshooting support across the entire stack.

Requirements

Twelve or more years of software engineering experience with strong fundamentals in data structures, algorithms, and system design.
Production-level Python expertise alongside experience using modern AI/ML frameworks like LangChain, LlamaIndex, HuggingFace, or OpenAI API.
Hands-on experience with cloud platforms including AWS, GCP, or Azure, paired with modern data infrastructure knowledge.
Exceptional problem-solving capabilities to navigate ambiguous requirements and communicate complex concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Nice to Have

Deep understanding of large language models, vector databases, semantic search systems, and open-source contributions.
Infrastructure and DevOps experience involving Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines, and Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform or Bicep.
Familiarity with enterprise compliance and governance standards like SOC 2, GDPR, or HIPAA.
Previous background in technical consulting, solutions engineering, or vertical domains such as finance, healthcare, government, or manufacturing.

Eligible roles receive a compensation package containing a base salary, equity, and benefits. For full-time positions located in San Francisco, New York, or Seattle, the base salary range is $288,000 to $360,000 USD. Employees also receive comprehensive health, dental, and vision coverage, retirement benefits, learning and development stipends, a commuter stipend, and generous paid time off.
