Role Overview

The Senior or Staff Design Engineer will operate where design, engineering, and product strategy meet, transforming intricate data problems into production-ready experiences. This position involves more than just prototyping; successful candidates will determine how solutions are built, scaled, and experienced across the platform. Operating as a senior team member, the individual will mentor others, direct architectural and design decisions, and bridge user needs with business goals and technical realities.

Key Responsibilities

Build high-fidelity, coded prototypes and interaction models that animate complex AI workflows and clarify product direction.
Steer high-impact initiatives from initial concept to full production, incorporating strong design thinking and technical discipline.
Lead technical design discussions, make architectural choices, and direct implementation efforts across multiple teams.
Develop AlphaSense’s design system as vital product infrastructure by establishing scalable patterns and driving consistency.
Partner with product managers and engineers to research user requirements, evaluate needs, and translate them into effective solutions.
Advocate for design quality and attention to detail alongside engineering teams throughout the development lifecycle.
Drive cross-functional alignment by helping teams navigate tradeoffs between technical limits, business objectives, and user experience.
Apply an AI-first mindset to build processes, utilizing modern tooling and agent-driven workflows to iterate quickly.

Requirements

Minimum of 10 years of professional background in product design, design engineering, front-end engineering, design systems, or a related field.
A bachelor’s degree or higher, with a preferred focus in design, computer science, information sciences, psychology, or human-computer interaction.
Practical, hands-on experience utilizing modern front-0end technologies including HTML, CSS, JavaScript, TypeScript, and React, alongside evolving design systems.
Background in building AI and agentic experiences, with a track record of leveraging artificial intelligence to augment end-to-end design and development.
Familiarity with modern AI technologies like MCP, Claude Code, Codex, and Skills applied to design challenges.
Proven ability to ship production-ready experiences while influencing technical and design choices across teams.
Deep understanding of user-centered design principles and customer workflows to convert new users into habitual ones.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills suited for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
