Role Overview

The Senior Platform Developer, AI Builder at MaintainX is a full-time remote engineering position based in San Francisco, perfect for professionals eager to build cutting-edge agentic developer infrastructure. This role suits experienced platform and infrastructure specialists who want to focus full-time on creating autonomous coding agents and reproducible developer environments.

Key Responsibilities

Build and operate the full agent infrastructure stack, including isolated development environments, agent orchestration, and the MCP tool registry.
Design and maintain reproducible developer environments so that development, CI, and agent environments remain identical.
Integrate agents with internal and external tools to allow flexible triggering and provide necessary context for agent actions.
Instrument agent runs with OpenTelemetry to trace tool invocations, CI outcomes, and failure points.
Establish standards for MCP tool development and agent configuration sharing across repositories.
Collaborate with product and platform teams through enablement, demos, and office hours to drive platform adoption.

Requirements

4+ years of professional experience in platform development, developer experience, or infrastructure.
Hands-on experience utilizing AI coding tools like Claude Code, OpenCode, or Cursor.
Strong working knowledge of containerization technologies including Docker and Dev Containers.
Experience managing CI/CD pipelines such as GitHub Actions.
Proficiency in programming languages like Node.js, TypeScript, and Python.
A strong product mindset focused on building internal platforms with and for internal customers.

Nice to Have

Knowledge of LLM agent frameworks, MCP, or tool-use patterns.
Prior experience shipping an agent integration directly to production.
