About this role

Role Overview

Topstep is seeking a Senior Mobile Engineer to join the trading platform department in the United States. This position is ideal for an experienced developer who wants to shape a brand-new mobile product from the ground up.

Key Responsibilities

Build out the early MVP of the mobile platform using React Native and TypeScript, connecting with GraphQL APIs.
Define mobile architecture patterns, create reusable components, and set engineering standards for the team.
Manage features from technical design through to App Store and Google Play Store distribution.
Partner with product and design teams to build clear, responsive, and accessible trading experiences.
Handle high volumes of real-time data while ensuring the interface remains performant across devices.
Incorporate quality assurance through testing, monitoring, performance tuning, and secure data handling.
Support cross-functional feature teams and mentor colleagues through code reviews and pairing.
Maintain production stability, investigate issues, and join on-call rotations after onboarding.

Requirements

Minimum of five years of professional experience building and releasing production mobile applications, with substantial hands-on React Native expertise.
Strong foundation in TypeScript, modern JavaScript, navigation, state management, hooks, and component creation.
Proven history of deploying applications to both iOS and Android stores, managing build pipelines and distribution.
Experience working with GraphQL APIs, client caching, error handling, and mutations.
Background in improving mobile performance through profiling, debugging, and secure session management.
Testing experience with unit, integration, and end-to-end mobile testing frameworks.
Strong communication skills paired with a pragmatic approach to balancing immediate delivery with long-term architecture.

Nice to Have

Familiarity with real-time data streaming via WebSockets.
Native iOS or Android development experience, including work at the React Native boundary.
Experience with complex UI elements like charts, custom gestures, and smooth animations.
Exposure to Expo or similar React Native development tools.
Background in creating fintech, trading, or financial applications.
