Role Overview
The Senior Manager, Customer Engineering, Iberia & Italy position at Cloudflare is a hybrid leadership opportunity based in Lisbon, Portugal or Spain. This role suits an experienced technical leader who can guide a quota-carrying team through the entire customer technical lifecycle, from initial discovery to long-term adoption.
Key Responsibilities
Build, recruit, coach, and retain a diverse, high-performing team of Customer Engineers across multiple levels.
Manage opportunity pipelines, track weekly forecasts, and ensure accountability for new business acquisition, expansion, and consumption targets.
Accompany team members on key customer calls, QBRs, discovery sessions, and Proof of Concept reviews to provide real-time strategic coaching.
Champion the integration of AI agents, LLMs, and automation tooling to minimize administrative work and maximize technical advisory efficiency.
Partner cross-functionally with Sales, Customer Experience, Professional Services, Product, and regional leadership to align on account strategies and represent field feedback.
Maintain operational excellence by utilizing dashboards and reviews to unblock friction and ensure consistent execution.
Requirements
Minimum of 5 years of proven experience leading quota-carrying, customer-facing technical teams within a SaaS, cloud, or infrastructure environment.
Prior hands-on technical field experience in Solutions Engineering, Customer Engineering, Sales Engineering, or a related discipline.
Strong architectural mindset capable of white-boarding, designing, and articulating enterprise network and security architectures.
Demonstrated success in managing and forecasting revenue metrics, ACV, renewals, and enterprise B2B sales cycles.
Exceptional communication skills with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into business outcomes for both hands-on engineers and C-level executives.
Familiarity with AI-augmented workflows, LLMs, and automation approaches to boost team output.
Technical fluency in at least two or three domains, including internet fundamentals (DNS, HTTP, TCP/IP), security (WAF, Bot Management, Zero Trust), performance (caching, latency), or platform and cloud services.
Nice to Have
Prior experience working with Cloudflare's product portfolio or familiarity with CDNs, security edges, and developer platforms.
Experience managing other managers or leading distributed teams across multiple time zones.
Demonstrated track record in improving operational cadence, enablement, and forecasting discipline.
Understanding of regulatory compliance frameworks such as PCI DSS, HIPAA, SOC 2, GDPR, or FedRAMP.
Background stemming from hyperscalers, digital natives, distributed systems environments, or startups.
Undergraduate or graduate degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or a related field.
Skills and Tools
Enterprise architecture and network security design (Zero Trust, SASE, WAF, Bot Management).
Revenue forecasting, pipeline management, and SaaS metrics tracking.
AI-augmented workflows, LLMs, and automation tools.
Foundational knowledge of internet protocols, DNS, HTTP(S), TCP/IP, and SSL/TLS.
People management, direct feedback delivery, and executive communication.
Salary and Benefits
Estimated annual salary for Portugal-based hires ranges between €110,000 and €152,000, which includes on-target incentive compensation under the Sales Compensation Plan.
Eligible to participate in Cloudflare's equity plan.
