About this role
The Internal Applications team at Cohere builds essential tools that help researchers and annotators create better foundation AI models and end-to-end products. Software engineers on this group focus on designing and delivering internal applications that pave the way for the next generation of large language models. Daily work involves collaborating closely with cross-functional internal stakeholders including product managers, annotators, and machine learning researchers.
Candidates joining the Toronto office or working remotely will build resilient, mission-critical systems across both the front end and back end. The environment suits engineers who enjoy supporting their colleagues by crafting clean browser and server code, pairing directly with peers, and removing technical roadblocks to increase team velocity.
What you will do
- Work alongside a small team of software engineers to build mission-critical, resilient internal systems.
- Contribute to user-facing products by writing code for both servers and browsers.
- Collaborate through architectural designs, direct pairing sessions, technical talks, and documentation.
- Identify and eliminate technical roadblocks to help increase overall engineering velocity.
- Adopt new technologies to continuously improve system reliability and performance.
What you need
- Bring experience shipping products while coordinating with a large number of stakeholders.
- Demonstrate comfort across the full stack with prior working knowledge of Next.js, TypeScript, React, and Python.
- Possess hands-on practical experience writing complex SQL queries.
- Communicate effectively with the ability to translate complex technical needs into clear explanations for any audience.
