Role Overview

As a Senior Forward Deployed Engineer, you will operate as a technical force multiplier for Cloudflare's most strategic customer accounts. Rather than embedding full-time with a single account, you will work in a one-to-many motion across a portfolio of companies building ambitious applications on the Cloudflare developer platform. You will collaborate shoulder-to-shoulder with external engineering teams to design architectures, write code prototypes, and navigate tricky production blockers. Your work directly bridges customer needs with internal Product and Engineering teams by surfacing critical real-world edge cases and product feedback.

Key Responsibilities

Act as a hands-on technical build partner for strategic customers, guiding engagements from initial idea to production launch.
Shape scalable and resilient architectures on the Cloudflare platform to prevent bottlenecks before they occur.
Engage in hands-on development alongside customer teams to configure and build reference implementations.
Review customer code to elevate performance, security, and overall code quality.
Diagnose and resolve difficult technical challenges across the full technology stack.
Write reference code, samples, and technical guidance for customers to reuse and build upon.
Support the entire breadth of the Cloudflare platform, including Workers, storage solutions, AI tools, security, networking, and observability.
Participate in design reviews, planning sessions, and technical working sessions with customer engineering teams.
Relay real-world friction points and product gaps directly to internal Product and Engineering teams.
Build trusted technical relationships with customer engineers and technical leaders such as Directors, VPs, and Staff+ engineers.

Requirements

7+ years of professional software engineering experience.
Previous experience in a customer-facing engineering role, such as forward deployed engineering, solutions engineering, sales engineering, professional services, or developer relations.
Track record of delivering production-grade systems and maintaining a high development velocity.
Professional proficiency in modern programming languages like TypeScript, Rust, and Go.
Broad technical depth spanning frontend performance, backend logic, data storage, and distributed infrastructure.
Production maturity involving mission-critical services, incident response, and highly available systems.
Experience integrating AI-augmented workflows into daily development cycles.
Strong systems design skills to break down business needs into resilient technical architectures.
Experience with at least one major cloud provider like AWS, GCP, or Azure.
Self-starter capability to navigate zero-to-one environments and execute solutions end-to-end.
Executive presence capable of leading high-stakes technical discussions with VP-level stakeholders.

Nice to Have

Direct experience building applications on Cloudflare Workers or the wider Cloudflare Developer Platform.
A visible public profile featuring open-source contributions, technical blogging, or conference speaking engagements.
