Scale's centralized Data Analytics team builds analytics solutions by embedding analysts across delivery, operations, finance, and engineering to clarify ambiguous problems. Operating within the Public Sector business, this role involves designing dashboards, constructing data models, and performing ad-hoc analyses from the ground up to shape strategic measurement and execution. Success in the position requires a curious mindset, comfort with operational ambiguity, and the ability to translate cross-functional relationships into sustainable analytical frameworks.
Daily responsibilities center on owning domain data quality, partnering with finance to evaluate cost drivers, and collaborating with operations to track efficiency initiatives. The person taking on this assignment will also establish centralized metric definitions, troubleshoot data discrepancies, and drive complex projects forward with minimal supervision. What you will do
- Manage data quality for the assigned domain by documenting models, troubleshooting discrepancies, and establishing centralized metric definitions.
- Collaborate with cross-functional partners to identify, define, and track key metrics for monitoring, planning, and decision-making.
- Develop repeatable and scalable analytical solutions such as dashboards, data models, or standard processes.
- Partner with operations to identify and track efficiency initiatives while measuring their impact on cost, quality, and delivery outcomes.
- Work alongside finance to analyze cost drivers across programs and inform overall pricing strategy.
- Investigate messy details and deep-dive into root causes when necessary.
- Initiate and drive complex projects to completion with minimal guidance.
What you need
- Bring six or more years of relevant work experience to the role.
- Demonstrate advanced SQL skills and practical experience building with data modeling tools like DBT.
- Show proficiency in building dashboards and reports using business intelligence tools such as Tableau or Metabase.
- Possess strong business acumen with the ability to partner directly with cross-functional stakeholders.
- Communicate effectively by translating technical analysis into clear and actionable narratives.
- Maintain comfort with ambiguity in a fast-moving environment while making sound trade-offs.
- Hold an active Secret U.S. security clearance, with a Top Secret clearance preferred.

- Familiarity working within air-gapped or federal environments and navigating their constraints
- Prior experience supporting a Business Operations function with exposure to process analytics or process mining

What is the salary range for this role?
The base salary range for this full-time position in Washington, DC is $184,000 to $230,000 USD. The exact range will be determined during the interview process based on work location and additional factors like skills, experience, and relevant training.
