Role Overview

The Senior Customer Engineer SLED is a remote position based in Texas, with availability in Austin, Dallas, or Houston, focused on supporting state, local, and education sectors. This role suits a technical professional who wants to own the complete client journey from discovery to long-term adoption while leveraging AI-augmented workflows.

Key Responsibilities

Partner with Account Executives to lead technical discovery, build custom architectures, and run Proof of Concepts across security, networking, and developer platforms tailored to public sector standards.
Oversee technical onboarding, monitor client telemetry and health scores, and resolve integration hurdles in educational and municipal IT setups.
Carry a variable quota tied to new business acquisition, account growth, retention, and strategic cross-selling based on product usage.
Lead technical Quarterly Business Reviews with C-level executives to demonstrate platform return on investment.
Use AI agents and internal platforms to automate routine administrative tasks like security questionnaires, sandbox provisioning, and RFP responses.

Requirements

Demonstrated experience working with or selling into SLED, municipal agencies, local government, or state entities, with familiarity in public sector buying cycles and compliance.
Background in a customer-facing technical capacity such as Sales Engineering, Solutions Engineering, Customer Engineering, or Forward Deployed Engineer.
Technical knowledge covering web security, cloud infrastructure, enterprise architecture, and networking like routing, DNS, and DDoS mitigation.
Commercial experience in a revenue-aligned or quota-carrying environment with an understanding of SaaS metrics and enterprise sales cycles.
Strong presentation and stakeholder management abilities to communicate technical concepts to government leadership and executives.

Nice to Have

Hands-on background architecting or deploying solutions with Cloudflare developer platforms and AI ecosystems like Workers AI, Vectorize, and AI Gateway.
Familiarity with Retrieval-Augmented Generation architectures, prompt engineering, or Large Language Model orchestration.
Coding and scripting capabilities in JavaScript, Python, or similar languages for building API connectors and edge computing functions.
