Role Overview

Cloudflare is looking for a customer-facing technologist to join the Solutions Engineering team, focusing on the developer-first and digital-native segment in Los Angeles. This position requires local residency, as relocation support is not provided. Candidates will partner closely with the sales team from the beginning of cycles, running technical discovery, delivering product demos, leading proof-of-concept builds, and mapping customer initiatives to the Cloudflare platform.

Key Responsibilities

Lead technical discovery within the cloud-developer vertical to uncover customer build strategies and solution alignment.
Engage early in sales-led discovery calls, qualify deals, and collaborate within customer Slack channels and working sessions.
Map customer business problems, particularly regarding new product creation and AI initiatives, to the Cloudflare ecosystem.
Build trusted technical relationships with everyone from founding engineers up to the CTO.
Design and present customized technical content and demonstrations for both developer and executive audiences.
Drive proof-of-concept and build activities for prospective and existing clients.
Represent Cloudflare externally at developer, technology, and industry events as a subject matter expert.

Requirements

Previous experience in a Solutions Engineer or similar customer-facing technical role working with developer-led or startup organizations.
Strong instinct for technical discovery, requirement gathering, and qualifying fit early in the sales cycle.
Ability to converse credibly with engineers about architectures, APIs, and platform design without requiring daily production coding.
Comfortable operating in a fast-paced environment with strong written and executive presentation skills.
Capability to manage multiple projects concurrently while maintaining a sense of urgency.
Ability to travel up to 25-30% for meetings, conferences, and team collaboration.
Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.

Cloudflare Developer Platform technologies including Workers, Workers AI, Durable Objects, R2, KV, D1, Vectorize, Queues, and Pages.
AI and GenAI application patterns such as edge inference, RAG, and vector databases.
HTTP technologies including reverse proxy, forward proxy, and serverless application development.
Internet security concepts such as DDoS mitigation, firewalls, TLS, VPN, and DLP.

Estimated annual salary range for San Francisco based hires is $231,000 to $300,000+.
