Assembled is seeking a full-time Security Engineer to work in New York City, NY. This position is ideal for an experienced professional looking to take ownership of application security across SaaS and AI platforms.

Role Overview

Assembled operates at the intersection of millions of customer interactions and sensitive data, requiring robust security leadership. In this capacity, the professional will head application security for SaaS and AI products within the infrastructure engineering team. Working alongside product managers and developers, the hire will establish product security practices, guide architecture, and develop vulnerability management tooling.

Key Responsibilities

Lead threat modeling, secure design reviews, and vulnerability management across SaaS and AI products and infrastructure.
Integrate and automate controls for secrets, access, and dependency security within engineering workflows and CI/CD pipelines.
Establish code, dependency, and secrets scanning, alongside dynamic application security testing, and manage external penetration testing.
Develop secure design and coding training for engineers while setting clear processes for routing and fixing security issues.
Coordinate incident response for application vulnerabilities and direct post-incident improvements.
Collaborate on security assurance by participating in customer security discussions and supporting SOC 2 compliance efforts.
Shape the security roadmap as the inaugural dedicated security hire by determining future team growth and external partnerships.

Requirements

Three or more years of hands-on application security experience involving threat modeling, security code reviews, and vulnerability remediation.
Strong software engineering fundamentals with the ability to write and review production code.
Familiarity with balancing risk management while helping teams ship products responsibly.
Active use of AI tools for security investigations, testing, and remediation with a strong perspective on changing threat models.

Nice to Have

Background working with large-scale, multi-tenant SaaS applications that manage sensitive customer data.
Experience securing AI and machine learning applications against prompt injection and adversarial inputs.
Familiarity with the company tech stack, including Python, AWS, Kubernetes, React, TypeScript, and Snowflake.
Knowledge of enterprise compliance standards like SOC 2, ISO 27001, GDPR, HIPAA, and PCI DSS.
Prior experience as an early security hire or establishing security operations without an existing playbook.
